In July 2008 the UK Department for Transport (DfT) issued a completely revised syllabus in relation to The UK National Air Cargo Security Training Programme. This course is designed to meet the new requirements.

Air Cargo Security Level D concerns all personnel of Regulated Agents who are handling or preparing export air cargo by undertaking duties such as receipt of cargo, labelling and despatch to the airline or handling agent. It includes drivers who have access to freight and who assist in the loading and unloading  at any stage of the journey and office personnel who have access to freight. (Replaces aspects of the old Cargo Level 1)

Signing of CSCs

Please note the following advice issued by the Department for Transport regarding signing of CSCs: Level D is the standard for signing a CSC. However, on rare occasions, Level A will be sufficient providing that there is something auditable from the person who has declared the cargo as SPX to the person who is signing the CSC.

It must be remembered that the CSC is a declaration that the cargo has been screened and declared safe/cleared to fly. The office clerk cannot make such a declaration if they have not screened it. However, if something came from the screener, for EVERY piece of cargo that confirmed that the cargo was screened and how it was screened - i.e. an auditable trail, the Level A trained clerk would be permitted to sign.

This course DOES NOT cover Module 8 – Physical Examination and is therefore not suitable for personnel carrying out handsearch activities and / or x-ray screening of export air cargo. See Air Cargo Security Level E if this module is required.

Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate recognised by the DfT which is valid for a period of two years.
